Hi Mike,
ReplyDeleteI have a question for all the people who travel. How often do you as an individual travel. If you travel once or twice a year and get a pat down that someone may think is offensive, all that I can say is sorry. I travel at least 60 to 70 different flights per year and have done so for the last 10 years for my work. As a frequent traveler, what we get in the states is not as bad as what they do overseas. Overseas, I get pat downs by someone of the opposite sex. It doesn't matter. You are just another person in line. Unfortunately in today's society, the TSA is the first line of defense. I have noticed in different terminals sometimes, not always, that when the TSA does pat a minority down, they may then go after the most obvious person who does not fit the profile just to make it look like they are not profiling. Either way, can you tell if a grandma is affiliated with a non US friendly group or not? I think that the only solution is to install an airport body scanner. However, for a small airport, that would probably prove to be cost prohibitive. Unfortunately, in today's society, we have lost some freedoms. If you want to travel, that is the cost of convenience. In a society where we cannot offend anyone, PC is taking away our freedoms one freedom at a time. I also understand that someone of that generation may feel that the pat down was a bit much; however, what is the other option? Drive a car. Sorry.
